The guitar signed by Carlos Santana has found a new owner: Claire Hemachandra-Wenger won the auction for this special instrument with a bid of 40,000 Swiss francs. Her generous support also sends a powerful message regarding the work of the CCF Children Cancer Foundation.
Last year, we reported on a remarkable moment: global superstar Carlos Santana had presented the CCF Children Cancer Foundation with a „PRS Santana Yellow“ guitar signed by him. The valuable instrument was to be auctioned off for the benefit of children with cancer and their families.
Now, this special story has a new chapter. Claire Hemachandra-Wenger purchased the guitar at auction for 40,000 Swiss francs. The 86-year-old Swiss national lives in Sri Lanka and has long been committed to social causes. For her, the guitar represents far more than just a valuable collector’s item; it symbolizes compassion, responsibility, and the shared conviction that children suffering from cancer—and their families—must not be left to face their struggle alone.
In a personal message to Carlos Santana, Claire Hemachandra-Wenger expressed her delight at acquiring the instrument. She wrote that she was happy to contribute 40,000 Swiss francs to the work of the Children Cancer Foundation. She added that the guitar would hold a special place in her home, where it would be carefully preserved—and, of course, played.
„Like you, I feel a deep commitment to helping children with cancer,“ she wrote to Carlos Santana, thanking him for his warm-hearted and generous support.
